What is it like, in this age of disappointment, to find a group that celebrates equality? To find a healthy belonging that satisfies the mind, the body and the spirit? And the kind of group where you can be together in-person and not just virtually. For me, finding the Paddle Trails Canoe club felt wonderful, and became my first model, my litmus test, for a group worth belonging to.

So canoeing became my framework for evaluating a nurturing, egalitarian, free-thinking church. Yes, church. But a special kind: A place an ex-Christian, tree-hugging, disappointed American woman could be welcomed and come to belong. My two-minute video explains.
